The new trucks will join UPS’ Rolling Lab, a growing fleet of more than 9,000 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles. UPS’ goal is to make the new electric vehicles a standard selection, where appropriate, in its fleet of the future.

Moving to cut energy use in new homes by more than 50%, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has adopted building standards that require solar photovoltaic systems starting in 2020. The 2019 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, which take effect on 1 January 2020, focus on four key areas: Smart residential photovoltaic systems.

Well-to-Propeller GHG emissions results for marine alternative fuels. DNV GL has released a position paper on the future alternative fuel mix for global shipping. The global merchant fleet currently consumes around 330 million tonnes of fuel annually, 80-85 per cent of which is residual fuel with high sulfur content.

In a study published in the journal Energy Economics , MIT researchers have found that a fuel economy standard is at least six to fourteen times less cost effective than a fuel tax when targeting an identical reduction in cumulative gasoline use (20% by 2050).
