California state fleet reduces petroleum consumption 13% compared to 2003

The California state fleet has reduced its petroleum consumption by 13% compared to a 2003 baseline, according to a state progress report. In 2003, the state fleet consumed 38,559,715 gallons of petroleum-based fuel (gasoline and diesel), according to the report. Prison Industry Authority: 105. 216,723 gallons E85 ethanol (6%).

JFE Steel and NEDO begin demo testing of ferro coke production at medium-scale; reducing ironmaking energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 10% each

In Japan, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and JFE Steel Corporation have built a medium-scale ferro coke production facility with a daily production capacity of 300 tons and begun demonstration testing. The new facility is located at JFE Steel’s West Japan Works in Fukuyama, Japan.
