Volkswagen and Greece to create model island for climate-neutral mobility

The Volkswagen Group and Greece have agreed to establish a mobility system on the Mediterranean island of Astypalea. Together with local partners, part of the traditional vehicle rental business will be transformed into a vehicle sharing service offering e-scooters from the Group’s SEAT brand and e-bikes in addition to electric cars.

Rystad Energy expects strong growth in hydrogen pipelines through 2035

The West Macedonia pipeline is a new natural gas pipeline that started construction in Greece earlier this year. Greek gas transmission system operator DESFA will operate this 163-km pipeline, which is part of the EHB initiative. This applies to all steel grades used in gas pipelines over Germany and in some other parts of Europe.

DOE awards $4M to carbon capture and storage projects selected as part of ACT

EC approves second major battery innovation project; €2.9B (US$3.5B) from 12 member states

The project, called “European Battery Innovation” (EuBatIn) was jointly prepared and notified by Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. In 2018, the Commission adopted the Strategic Action Plan for Batteries and has promoted a wide range of initiatives as part of the plan.

EC approves up to €5.2B of public support for second IPCEI in the hydrogen value chain
