Construction of the pipeline will enhance the refinery’s long-term ability to produce gasoline, diesel and jet fuel for the greater Memphis and eastern Arkansas area. The Valero Memphis Refinery originally was constructed in 1941 with numerous expansions to its present rated capacity of 195,000 barrels per day (BPD) of light, low-sulfur crude oil.

UPS to use biomethane for Memphis and Jackson alternative fuel fleet

UPS will supply its fleet in Memphis, Tenn., with an estimated 15 million diesel gallon gas equivalents of renewable natural gas (RNG)—biomethane—as part of a multi-year agreement with Memphis Light, Gas and Water and Atmos Energy Marketing, LLC. The RNG will fuel more than 140 heavy duty trucks in Memphis and Jackson, part of UPS’s natural gas fleet, which includes more than 3,800 medium and heavy duty vehicles worldwide.

FedEx Express is bringing new all-electric delivery vehicles to New York City, Chicago and Memphis, and diversifying the existing Los Angeles fleet. In Memphis, FedEx Express is retrofitting existing vehicles to make them all-electrics, saving resources through using existing vehicle bodies. UPS to purchase ~700 LNG trucks, build 4 refueling stations by end of 2014

New UPS-built fueling stations in Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., UPS plans to purchase approximately 700 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks and to build four refueling stations by the end of 2014. Once completed, the LNG private fleet will be one of the most extensive in the US. An initial investment of more than $18 million to build fueling stations will be supported by the purchase of the 700 LNG tractors and continued expansion of the natural gas fleet in the US.
