False Starts: The Story of Vehicle-to-Grid Power

Cars That Think

It occurred in the wake of the California electricity crisis of 2000 and 2001, when mismanaged deregulation, market manipulation, and environmental catastrophe combined to unhinge the power grid. If too much or too little electricity is present in the power grid, the network can suddenly become unbalanced.

Researchers use cold-spray deposition to create thermoelectric generators for harvesting waste heat from previously inaccessible sources

Green Car Congress

Thermoelectric materials convert heat to electricity or vice versa. For a thermoelectric material to be effective it must convert temperature gradient into voltage. Researchers from University of the Pacific and industry partner TTEC Thermoelectric Technologies also contributed to the research. —Alex Baker.
