Rio launches electric taxi program with Nissan LEAFs

By the end of the year, 13 more units will be added to the fleet. Their batteries will be recharged in two Petrobras service stations at the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and in the Barra da Tijuca area. The LEAF battery pack can be recharged in 30 minutes via Quick Chargers to be installed by Petrobras.

Volvo Car Corporation begins production of the Volvo C30 Electric for leasing customers in Europe

Volvo says it will build about 250 cars by the end of 2012, possibly more if market interest takes off. Tests on a fleet of about 50 cars have been conducted since autumn 2010, mainly internally at the Volvo Car Corporation. The car is recharged from a regular household power socket.
