UK publishes roadmap for reducing CO2 emissions from commercial and off-highway vehicles

Green Car Congress

The roadmap assumes that CO 2 regulations will be implemented within the next decade, and will trade-off with emissions regulation. Overall, the objective and outcome will be that tailpipe emissions have zero impact on air quality emissions by 2030-2050. Work on lowering carbon emissions from cars is well underway.

EU formally approves sales ban of combustion engine cars by 2035

Teslarati

The new EU law will require that all carmakers achieve a 100 percent cut in CO2 emissions by 2035 for all new cars sold, eliminating the possibility that gas or petrol-fueled engines can be sold in any of the 27 countries in the EU. The EU Parliament said it will also require all cars to be CO2 neutral by 2050.

PNNL team develops higher-strength, lower-cost titanium alloy aimed at improving vehicle fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions

Green Car Congress

However, wide scale adoption of β-titanium alloys in transportation applications has been limited due to its high cost. The cost of β-titanium alloys can be lowered by replacing the expensive β stabilizers such as Mo, Cr and V (in full or in part) by low cost Fe such as the case in Ti–1Al–8V–5Fe (Ti-185) alloy introduced in 1960s.

Volkswagen Group now planning 22M EVs in ten years; 70 new electric models by 2028

Green Car Congress

We will be systematically aligning production and other stages in the value chain to CO2 neutrality in the coming years. Compensate for remaining emissions that cannot be avoided. At the same time, CO2 emissions at all plants are to be cut 50% by 2025 compared with 2010. A detailed roadmap is currently being drawn up.

UK study finds Bio-SNG could offer 90% reduction in lifecycle CO2; lower cost of carbon abatement than electrical solutions for transport applications

Green Car Congress

Cost of carbon abated for transport applications. In addition to the incentives structures, the regulatory environment must be clear and appropriate, particularly with regard to: requirements for gas injection, emissions directives, and how the use of waste as a feedstock is treated. RESPONSE TO CLIMATE CHANGE COMMISSION: Drive Electric’s advice on the second draft of the Emissions Reduction Plan (2026-2030)

Drive Electric

We would make the following additional points: E-mobility, by definition, depends on affordable and reliable renewable electricity. It is significantly more cost effective to install charge points in new builds. Drive Electric analysis suggests that an EV charger installed in a new home will add an approximate cost of $2,000.

UC Davis, ITDP study suggests global shift to public transport, NMT and away from cars could save $100T through 2050 and cut GHGs

Green Car Congress

Fulton, UC Davis, examines how major changes in urban transport investments worldwide would affect urban passenger transport emissions as well as mobility by different income groups. Overall, the total costs of the baseline between 2010-2050 are roughly $500 trillion ($200T in OECD and $300T in non-OECD countries).
