XL Hybrids conducting pilot tests of hybrid electric conversion systems for Class 1-3 commercial vans and trucks

XL Hybrids, Inc., a company working with a hybrid electric conversion system for Class 1 through 3 commercial vans and trucks ( earlier post ), is conducting customer pilot tests of its system. The hybrid powertrain can reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by up to 20% for urban fleets, according to the company.

Refit hybrid-electric commuter boat launched in Stockholm

In joint trials, Blidösundsbolaget, a subsidiary of Transdev, has teamed up with Scania to refit M/S Rex for hybrid operations. The hybridization of Rex is a step in that development. The boat can take up to 150 people and uses a Scania 13-liter diesel engine that conforms to the international IMO Tier 3 emission standard.
