Lightning Hybrids to Introduce Hydraulic Hybrid Sports Sedan at Denver Auto Show

Colorado start-up Lightning Hybrids will unveil the prototype of its hydraulic hybrid four-seat sports sedan at the Denver Auto Show 1-5 April. Rendering of the LH4. Click to enlarge. Alstom invests €14M in electric autonomous shuttle company EasyMile

Nestlé Waters North America adds 155 new medium-duty propane autogas trucks to delivery fleet

Equipped with ROUSH CleanTech fuel technology, the trucks operate in three of BBU’s major markets: Chicago, Denver, and Washington DC. Nestlé Waters North America is adding more than 150 medium-duty beverage delivery trucks fueled by propane autogas. Over the vehicles’ lifetime, the 155 Ford F-650 trucks will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 24.6 million pounds. These units will be deployed beginning in April.

Walmart will start with tests of grocery delivery through Uber and Lyft in Denver and one other market. Walmart will begin pilot-testing a last-mile grocery-delivery test through services such as Uber, Lyft and Deliv. This is in addition to a quiet Sam’s Club pilot that started in March with Deliv involving delivery of general merchandise and grocery for business members in Miami. A customer will places a grocery order online and select a delivery window.

Some communities—such as Denver, Colo. Ford is offering the Auto Start-Stop system on its new non-hybrid 2013 Fusion equipped with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine ( earlier post ) for $295. Auto Start-Stop saves fuel use when the car is standing and running at idle. Savings vary depending on driving patterns, but owners who spend most time in heavy urban areas and city traffic will benefit up to 10%. On average, Auto Start-Stop improves fuel efficiency by about 3.5%.

Study finds 2008 recession contributed to increase in age of US LDV fleet, slowing of emission reductions

Preliminary survey results show 27% believe they will be using autonomous car by 2020, 49% a single mobility app

Preliminary results from a forthcoming 23-city global study from Xerox shows that by 2020, half of all respondents (49%) believe they will have one app for all their transportation needs and 27% of respondents believe they will be using a self-driving car.
