Your Greenius is sorry to report that there’s been nothing but more bad news on the climate action scene in the past couple of weeks. And now they don’t want to have to pay the price for the carbon they burn or for the impacts their CO2 emissions cause. They want to take the money and run.
The findings, published in the 21 September issue of Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics , are generally consistent with official Chinese government statistics and could bolster their credibility as international negotiations proceed on commitments of China and other nations to combat climate change. Munger, J. McElroy, M. Nielsen, C.
A new study finds that the growth of carbon production from Chinese exports has slowed or reversed, reflecting a “new phase of globalization” between developing countries that could undermine international efforts to reduce emissions. The paper is published in Nature Communications.
Chinese regulations are less stringent than the glide path (153 g CO 2 /km) in 2015, but in 2020 the regulation overachieves the glide path target of 128 g CO 2 /km. Together, we will demonstrate that crude oil from algae can be produced with favorable economics; that it can be integrated into existing fuels distribution networks; and that it will deliver substantial advantages for the reduction of CO2 emissions in both nations. —Cynthia “CJ” Warner, Sapphire CEO.
By comparison, Chinese per capita CO 2 emissions of 6.8 This needs to be considered in future years in all efforts to mitigate the growth of global greenhouse gas emissions, as desired by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Bali Action Plan and the Cancún agreements. A study lead by researchers from the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences has found a 1.4-gigatonne The gap, noted the researchers in their open-access paper in Nature Climate Change , is equivalent to Japan’s annual CO 2 emissions, the world’s fourth largest emitter, with 5% of the global total. —Guan et al.
Currently, in the Chinese vehicle market, taking products of the BYD Company as an example, HEVs (20,000-25,000 US dollars) are much more expensive than conventional ICEVs (8000-10,000 US dollars) of equivalent size, but the price of EVs is even higher (>30,000 US dollars). transport oriented urban policies would reduce CO 2 emission growth by around 30% compared with the baseline scenario in Latin American and Chinese cities, and by almost 40% in Indian cities. Integrated policies aiming at climate and health objectives work best. vehicle oriented, with strong road infrastructure expansion.
Lloyd drew upon the experience of California’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Mandate in the 1990s, telling participants that, Electric drive is capable of addressing urgent climate change, zero-emissions and energy security. Electric drive is feasible, but the challenges should not be under-estimated. Hybridization has however been a success.
In late April 2015, Geely Auto deployed a first-of-its-kind fleet of 150 methanol-fueled taxis in the southern Chinese city of Guiyang in cooperation with the municipal government. The company is proactively working with partners across China to expand the use of methanol-fueled vehicles.

Fortunately plenty of reputable organisations have examined the issues surrounding CO2 emissions for EVs. But for each country the result is the same: the production of the EV emits more CO2 than the equivalent petrol-powered alternative. But over the life of the vehicle the ledger very much swings in the favour of EVs over ICE.
Among the findings of the report, “HFC-134a phase-out in the Chinese light-duty motor vehicle sector”, was that, considering the social cost of CO 2 e, up to 1 trillion RMB in costs (US$150 billion) required to address climate change could be avoided through 2050 by transitioning to low-GWP alternative MACs.
