Ford unveils C-MAX Solar Energi concept; “plug-in” hybrid not dependent on electric grid can fully recharge from sun

Ford Motor Company announced the C-MAX Solar Energi Concept, a sun-powered hybrid vehicle that can deliver the efficiency of a plug-in hybrid without depending on the electric grid for recharging. Internal Ford data suggest the sun could power up to 75% of all trips made by an average driver in a solar hybrid vehicle.

Audi and partner FAW to cooperate on plug-in hybrid for China; Audi A6 e-tron on long-wheelbase A6

Together with its Chinese joint-venture partner FAW, Audi will launch a plug-in hybrid car for the Chinese market. The full-size sedan will offer a 50-kilometer (31-mile) all-electric range when operating solely under battery power and is to be produced within the joint venture by FAW-Volkswagen in Changchun in northern China.

Hyundai launches Bluelink+ connected car service program

More than 10 years ago, Bluelink debuted on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata with a suite of connected services. They can also use Bluelink to warm up the vehicle cabin while it is still plugged in to preserve battery power and check the state of charge.
