South African engineering company Swayana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LanzaTech to collaborate on developing projects for the production of ethanol and higher value products from waste gases in the ferroalloy and titania smelting sectors. In all cases, however, the production of ferroalloys is energy-intensive.

Hydrogen Production from Waste Tires Using a Catalytic Pyrolysis-Gasification Process

A team at the University of Leeds (UK) is investigating hydrogen production from waste tires using a two-stage pyrolysis-gasification reactor and Ni-Mg-Al (1:1:1) catalyst. The generation rate of waste tires is increasing, especially with the continued increase in production of cars and trucks, the authors note.

US Foodservice acquires WVO company to reduce environmental impact of its fleet
