Canadian oil sands project to recycle up to 97% of its produced water with GE evaporation technology

Grizzly Oil Sands ULC has selected GE’s (NYSE: GE) produced water evaporation technology for its Algar Lake project near Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Until recently, SAGD produced water could not be recycled as boiler feedwater because conventional treatment technologies were unable to produce the necessary water quality.

Petrobras ready to launch renewable diesel production upon regulatory approval

Anelise Lara, the head of Petrobras’ refining, announced that the company is ready to begin production of renewable diesel from soy or other edible oils at commercial scale. Sonangol, Maersk Oil and partners strike oil with their first deepwater pre-salt well offshore Angola

Maersk Oil and other partners declared the Azul-1 deepwater exploration well, located in Block 23 in the Kwanza Basin, a discovery well. The Azul-1 well, the first to penetrate pre-salt objectives in Angolan deepwater, was drilled in water depths of 923 meters (3,028 feet) and reached a final depth of 5,334 meters (17,500 feet).

Petrobras signs agreement with Jogmec for a flexible pipe project for ultradeep waters

Petrobras has signed an agreement with Jogmec (Japan Oil, Gas, and Metals National Corporation) with the aim of commencing a technical feasibility study on flexible pipes for oil production in the pre-salt cluster. Its brief is to develop a flexible pipe design for offshore oil production in ultradeep waters in the pre-salt cluster.
