Norway Launches 4-Year Wood Gasification Research Project

Norway has launched a four-year, 25-million kroner (US$4-million) wood gasification research project led by SINTEF, the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia. Gasification is the key technology in the production of second-generation biodiesel, and this is still not commercially available as a scaled-up technology.

Volvo Receives Order for Twelve 7700 Hybrid Buses in Norway

The operator company Nettbuss has ordered 12 hybrid buses from Volvo Buses for service in Norway, thereby becoming the first company in the Nordic region to implement the hybrid technology commercially. Serial production will commence in April 2010, and deliveries of the 12 hybrid buses to Nettbuss in Norway will be made in July.
