Business Finland awards Keliber €7M to improve environmental protection in lithium hydroxide production

Business Finland has granted Keliber Technology Oy, a Finnish mining and battery chemical company that aims to start the sustainable production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide utilizing its own ore, investment funding of a maximum of €7 million. Some of Business Finland’s funding has been earmarked for the acquisition of equipment for handling the analcime sand. The project is part of the Smart Mobility and Batteries from Finland programme.

Neste Oil’s NEXBTL renewable diesel was used to generate electricity at two major events in Finland this summer: the Flow Festival in Helsinki and the Neste Oil Rally Helsinki Battle street circuit race. NEXBTL diesel generated 45% of the electricity used at the Flow Festival and powered the machinery at the festival site. Using the fuel resulted in a 22 ton reduction in emissions, equivalent in emission terms to nearly three round-the-world flights.

European Batteries Oy Launches Li-ion Battery Plant in Finland

Finland-based European Batteries Oy held the grand opening of its new lithium-ion battery plant which manufactures large format prismatic 42 Ah, 3.2V LiFePO 4 (LFP) cells, modules, packs and systems earlier this month.
