Neste Oil’s NEXBTL renewable diesel was used to generate electricity at two major events in Finland this summer: the Flow Festival in Helsinki and the Neste Oil Rally Helsinki Battle street circuit race. NEXBTL diesel generated 45% of the electricity used at the Flow Festival and powered the machinery at the festival site. Using the fuel resulted in a 22 ton reduction in emissions, equivalent in emission terms to nearly three round-the-world flights.

European Batteries Oy Launches Li-ion Battery Plant in Finland

Finland-based European Batteries Oy held the grand opening of its new lithium-ion battery plant which manufactures large format prismatic 42 Ah, 3.2V LiFePO 4 (LFP) cells, modules, packs and systems earlier this month. The annual production capacity is 100 MWh—enough for 3.000 full-electric cars, the company says. Plans have already been made to triple both production capacity and the number of employees.

Neste Oil’s NExBTL renewable diesel is to be trialed in day-to-day use in Finland by a fleet of road tanker trucks from the beginning of June onwards.
