LAWA takes delivery of its first heavy-duty electric truck, a Nikola Tre for LAX

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has taken delivery of its first heavy-duty battery-electric vehicle, marking a step in the airport’s transition to a fully electric fleet. The Class 8 Nikola Tre battery-electric vehicle (BEV) semi-style tractor will be used to move paving equipment, transport construction materials and pull other heavy equipment at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) worksites.

USPS aims to only buy electric delivery vehicles from 2026 on

The United States Postal Service (USPS) on Tuesday said it would buy only electric delivery vehicles from 2026 on, an about-face from the agency's original plan to continue with internal-combustion powertrains for most of its next-generation fleet. The USPS plans to acquire 106,000 vehicles between now and 2028, of which at least 66,000 vehicles.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized more stringent NO x emissions limits for model year 2027 and later heavy-duty engines and vehicles.
