The Senate on Wednesday voted to overturn President Biden's stricter emissions rules for commercial trucks, halting their implementation unless the president vetoes the measure. The 50-49 vote rescinds emissions rules that went into effect last month, marking the first time in 20 years that the EPA has set stricter standards for emissions from.

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), NextEra Energy Resources and BlackRock Alternatives, through a fund managed by its Climate Infrastructure business, (BlackRock), announced Greenlane , the name of their joint venture ( earlier post ) to design, develop, install and operate a US nationwide, high-performance zero-emission public charging and hydrogen fueling network for medium- and heavy-duty battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The 2024 Volvo EX90 is still a few months away from the start of deliveries, but the electric SUV is already sold out for its first year of production. Volvo confirmed this in a press release detailing its first-quarter 2023 financial results, although it didn't disclose how many vehicles would be built in the first-year production run, only.

Glencore will acquire 30% of Hydro’s Brazilian alumina refinery Hydro Alunorte and Hydro’s 5% ownership in the Brazilian bauxite producer Mineracão Rio do Norte (MRN). MRN is Brazil’s largest bauxite producer. Glencore will also acquire an additional 40% stake in MRN, which is currently owned by Vale. This 40% interest will be acquired by Hydro from Vale and immediately sold to Glencore on a back-to-back basis.

Rio Tinto has entered into a binding agreement to acquire the Platina Scandium Project (PSP), a high-grade scandium resource in New South Wales, from Platina Resources Limited for $14 million. The project, near Condobolin in central New South Wales, contains a long life, high-grade scalable resource that could produce up to 40 tonnes per annum of scandium oxide, for an estimated period of 30 years.

Porsche AG and Norsk Hydro ASA will work together to further reduce the carbon footprint of Porsche’s car models by using low-carbon aluminum and extrusions from Hydro. In addition, the two companies will collaborate on an innovative value chain concept for battery materials and its recycling. Hydro will deliver to Porsche and several of Porsche’s component suppliers its low-carbon aluminum offering, Hydro Reduxa 4.0 and lower.

Tesla has dropped the price of the Model Y’s more-spacious seven-seat layout option. Tesla dropped the price by $1,000, from $4,000 to $3,000 on Thursday evening. The seven-seat option gives the Model Y room for two additional passengers from the standard five-seat option and includes things like USB-C charging for those seated in the back. The seats are also foldable, so the cargo storage room is not affected by the presence of two extra seats.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has adopted the In-Use Locomotive Regulation —a new rule aimed at reducing emissions from all switch, passenger, industrial and freight line haul locomotives when they operate within the state. We continue our Ford Friday -- it wasn't planned that way, I swear -- with this good-looking 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. We'll disclose right up front that the seller mentions the car has a rebuilt title due to left-front-end damage from when it had 13,000 miles -- it now has 21,000.
