ABB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hydrogène de France to manufacture jointly megawatt-scale fuel cell systems capable of powering ocean-going vessels (OGVs). With the use of renewables to produce the hydrogen, the entire energy chain can be clean. The company is on track to reach 60% of revenues by the end of 2020.

Launched during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, it now has around 100 vehicles. HyAMMED (Hydrogen in Aix-Marseille for an Ecological and Sustainable Mobility) aims to operate hydrogen trucks for long-distance transport of goods in the South-East of France.

France also intends to initiate an ambitious (“ ambitieuse ”) Euro 7 standard at the European level. Also outlined in the plan is an initiative to halt the production of fossil hydrocarbons in France. Shorter term actions on the mobility front will include: Converging taxation rates for gasoline and diesel during the next five years.
