First charging station for EVs using second-life batteries from Irizar e-mobility is in service

First EU-US interoperability center for e-mobility and smart grids inaugurated

The first of the twin centers designed to promote common standards in electric mobility and smart grids on both sides of the Atlantic was inaugurated at Argonne National Laboratory. The second Centre will be opened in the EU, at the JRC sites in Petten, The Netherlands and Ispra, Italy, in 2014.

Vattenfall, BMW and Bosch test second-life EV battery electricity storage in Hamburg for grid stabilization

Vattenfall, BMW and Bosch are testing the use of second-life EV batteries in a 2 MW, 2,800 kWh energy storage system in Hamburg, Germany, to keep the electricity grid stable. The electricity storage facility comprises 2,600 battery modules from more than 100 electric vehicles.
