Argonne-led team develops new low-cost cobalt-based catalyst for PEM electrolysis

Green Car Congress

A multi-institutional team led by the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) has developed a low-cost cobalt-based catalyst for the production of hydrogen in a proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer (PEMWE). Production of green hydrogen at that cost could reshape the nation’s economy.

China-based study concludes using political incentives to fight pollution is costly and inefficient

Green Car Congress

The study looked at water quality regulations and found that local officials more heavily enforced regulations on polluting firms that were monitored and tracked by the central government, while not enforcing regulations on firms not tracked. The unequal deployment of the regulations led to significant economic losses in China.

KAUST team devises electrically-driven membrane process for seawater lithium mining

Green Car Congress

As lithium possesses one of the smallest ionic sizes, we considered that it could be technically feasible to use a molecular sieving membrane to enrich lithium and to remove multivalent ions at an affordable energy cost. The team found that the LLTO membrane could be used for more than 2000 hours with a negligible decay in performance.
