Shell starts production at Vito in US Gulf of Mexico; new, simplified design

Shell Offshore, a subsidiary of Shell plc, has started production at the Shell-operated Vito floating production facility in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM). With an estimated peak production of 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Vito is the company’s first deep-water platform in the GoM to employ a simplified, cost-efficient host design.

Exxon Mobil beginning development of ultra-deepwater Julia oil field in Gulf of Mexico

Exxon Mobil Corporation is commencing development of the ultra-deepwater Julia oil field in the Gulf of Mexico. ExxonMobil, the operator, and Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC each hold a 50% interest in the Julia unit. Malo production facility operated by Chevron USA Inc. Shell’s Cardamom development starts production; second major 2014 start-up in deep-water Gulf of Mexico
