Hyundai Motor Company held a digital world premiere to unveil the new upscaled KONA in the B-SUV segment, led by an all-electric variant (EV) that offers advanced safety and convenience features and class-leading range. Compared to the previous generation KONA, the new model has unique proportions with increased dimensions. Based on the EV variant, its length is now 4,355 mm, 175 mm longer than the previous generation in 2017, with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm, which is 60 mm longer.

Hyundai revealed global specs for the next-generation Kona Electric, on its way to the U.S. as a 2024 model, and most notably this model is getting sharper-looking and larger inside—with a longer range to boot. The new Kona Electric is 171.5 inches long, 71.9 inches wide, and 62.0 inches tall overall, and it rides on a 104.7-inch wheelbase.

Westport Fuel Systems is collaborating with a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to evaluate the performance, efficiency and emissions of the OEM’s engine equipped with Westport’s H2 HPDI fuel system. This collaboration marks Westport’s third major OEM engagement evaluating its H2 HPDI fuel system to date. Funded by the OEM, the work starts immediately and continues through year end.

Amprius Technologies, a developer of silicon anode Li-ion battery cells with its Si-Nanowire platform, has signed a letter of intent for a 775,000 square foot facility in Brighton, Colorado. The factory, targeted to be operational in 2025, will be built in phases starting with an initial 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) with the potential of up to 5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) within the initial footprint.
