Coltura: Federal & state EV policy & incentives must target gasoline superusers to achieve carbon emissions goals

Advocacy group Coltura has published a report that finds converting the biggest users of gasoline to EVs in the next ten years is critical to reaching climate goals and that present EV policies are poorly suited to accomplishing that conversion. Among the findings of the report: Drivers are highly unequal in their gasoline consumption.

Biden says he will convert Federal fleet to electric vehicles

Trucks (light-, medium-, and heavy-duty) account for 412,488 units (64%); 53% (216,492) of those trucks belong to the postal service. Of the trucks, 271,652 are light-duty (66%); 101,999 are medium-duty (25%); and 38,837 are heavy-duty (9%). Passenger vehicles (low-speed EVs, sedans, vans and SUVs) account for 224,227 units (35%).

Phillips 66 files LCFS pathway applications for renewable gasoline, CIs from 30.9 to 63.4 gCO2e/MJ

Phillips 66 Company has applied for three California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) Tier 2 fuel pathways for renewable gasoline derived from soybean oil and canola oil. Phillips 66 also filed a separate application for renewable gasoline derived from distiller’s corn oil which is processed along with soybean oil and canola oil.
