This tire, which will be manufactured with this specific carbon black, is the first tire for sale in the industry to have this type of carbon black produced by Monolith.

If a definitive agreement is reached, the project is expected to capture and mineralize up to 50,000 metric tons of CO 2 per year, the equivalent to carbon emissions from nearly 11,000 passenger cars. All three companies violated provisions of the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). SK Energy Americas agreed to a $395,000 penalty for failure to meet the carbon intensity target for 2014. The LCFS requires that companies producing fuel for use in California lower the carbon in their production process 10% by 2020.

The conventional Hall–Héroult process (invented in 1886) for smelting aluminum involves dissolving alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) in molten cryolite, and electrolyzing the molten salt bath, typically in a purpose-built cell with carbon electrodes. Oxygen from the alumina combines with carbon from the anode to produce mostly carbon dioxide.
