A methanation plant expansion to the existing power-to-gas (PtG) facility in Falkenhagen, Germany has officially opened as part of the international €28-million (US$33.5-million) million) STORE&GO research project. Moreover, it provides for unrestricted use of the natural gas infrastructure, including for transport and storage.

is developing a pilot plant in Falkenhagen in the north east of Germany to convert power from wind energy into hydrogen which can then be stored in the country’s gas grid. Using power from renewable energy sources, the plant will produce about 360 m 3 (30 kg) of hydrogen per hour from 2013 onwards through electrolysis.

The start of gas and condensate production from the MJ field follows the start-up of the R-Cluster field in December 2020 and Satellite Cluster in April 2021. This is expected to account for around one-third of India’s current domestic gas production and meet approximately 15% of India’s demand.

Verkehr und Wasser GmbH (VWG) in Oldenburg, Germany has acquired 15 new MAN Lion’s City 12 G EfficientHybrid natural gas buses. The intelligent energy management of the EfficientHybrid module uses the energy created through recuperation during braking and then stored in ultracaps to supply the on-board network.

Up to £40,000 (US$62,160) was made available to cover parts of the costs of developing a detailed feasibility study for a 1MW power-to-gas facility to be built in the UK starting in the second half of 2013. The unit will combine Hydrogenics’ electrolysis technology with Electrochaea’s methanation process.
