Sweden inaugurated a test stretch of electric road on the E16 in Sandviken, thus becoming one of the first countries to conduct tests with electric power for heavy transports on public roads. Electric roads will bring us one step closer to fossil fuel-free transports, and has the potential to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions.

The electrolyzer will be installed at Ovako’s existing plant in Hofors, Sweden. There is huge potential in reducing CO 2 -emissions from steel-heating processes through green hydrogen. The 100% renewable electricity mix in Chengdu is the result of a newly signed supply contract and will reduce the plant’s CO 2 emissions by more than 11,000 tonnes per year. At the Ghent plant in Belgium, Volvo Cars installed 15,000 solar panels in 2018, the first large-scale introduction of solar energy in its global manufacturing network.

Volvo Cars, A-hus and Vattenfall recently launched the six-month One Tonne Life project—an attempt by a family (the Lindells) to cut their carbon dioxide yearly emissions from seven tonnes per person to a more sustainable one tonne. Supplementary underfloor heating is installed on the bottom floor.
