Cummins fuel cell technology powers Coradia iLint fleet in Germany

The Alstom Coradia iLint trains ( earlier post ) are outfitted with Cummins fuel cell systems and will run on the world’s first 100%-hydrogen train route in passenger operation. The first zero-emissions passenger trains in the 14-train fleet arrived in mid-summer.

T&E: Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands lead deployments of zero-emission buses in Europe

Denmark leads the way when it comes to putting zero-emission urban buses on the streets in Europe, with 78% of new vehicles being electric, according to the latest data from green NGO Transport & Environment. In Luxembourg and the Netherlands about two-thirds of new buses were zero-emissions.

EEA: small increase in EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions in 2017, with transport emissions up for the fourth consecutive year

Total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union (EU) increased by 0.7% Less coal was used to produce heat and electricity but this was offset by higher industrial and transport emissions, the latter increasing for the fourth consecutive year. From 1990 to 2017, the EU reduced its net greenhouse gas emissions by 21.7%.

Siem Aristotle joins sister ship as the world’s two largest LNG-powered car carriers

Siem Car Carriers’s (SCC’s) Aristotle , the second of two LNG-fueled PCTC (pure car, truck carrier) ships in the SCC fleet (the other is the Confucius ), is on her maiden voyage from Emden, Germany to North America. The ship’s first bunkering took on more than 800MT of LNG fuel. The Aristotle operates exclusively for Volkswagen Group.
