BMW begins road testing of i Hydrogen NEXT; small-series production model in late 2022

The BMW Group is beginning to test near-standard vehicles with a hydrogen fuel cell drive train in everyday conditions on European roads. Prototypes of the BMW i Hydrogen NEXT will examine how effectively the CO 2 -free drive train, model-specific chassis technology and vehicle electronics systems work together under real-life conditions.

Half a million electrified BMW Group vehicles on the roads

The BMW Group has delivered half a million electrified cars to customers worldwide so far. The company aims to have one million electrified vehicles on the road within two years, said Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. The key of this lies in making the drive train substantially more efficient, BMW said.

Tesla leads with transfer of ZEV credits for year ending 30 Sep 2013

BMW Brilliance unveils Zinoro 1E BEV at Guangzhou show

BMW Brilliance, the China joint venture company formed by the BMW Group and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., unveiled the Zinoro 1E battery-electric vehicle (BEV) at the Guangzhou Auto Show. A 125 kW electric motor is mounted on the rear axle, and produces peak torque of 250 N·m (184 lb-ft).

BMW i8 customer demand exceeding planned production; improved fuel consumption

Series production of the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) begins in April, with delivery of the first customer cars to start in June 2014, beginning with the main European markets. With the BMW eDrive in plug-in hybrid configuration, the i8 combines a 0–100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 4.4 BMW eDrive. kWh per 100 km.

Fisker Automotive signs supply agreement with BMW for Project Nina extended range electric vehicles
