BMW deploying iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet

After four years of development work, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen vehicle and its development project are entering its next phase as the first vehicles enter a pilot fleet of less than 100 vehicles. The BMW iX5 Hydrogen developed on the basis of the current BMW X5 was first unveiled as a concept at the IAA show in 2019.

BMW Group commences in-house production of fuel cell systems for BMW iX5 Hydrogen in Munich

BMW has begun fuel cell system production at the company’s competence center for hydrogen in Munich. A small series of BMW iX5 Hydrogen cars will be entering service around the world from the end of this year for test and demonstration purposes. The two companies have been collaborating on fuel cell drive systems since 2013.

At the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, the 200,000 th BMW i3 model rolled off the production line last week. The BMW i3s (combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km) with Fluid Black metallic paint finish and accents in BMW i Blue was produced for a customer from Saxony and will be delivered by the BMW branch in Leipzig.
