The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG has decided to manufacture the next generation of the Macan as a fully electric series. This will be the first all-electric compact SUV from Porsche, and is due to roll off the assembly line in the Leipzig site at the start of the next decade. Current generation Macan.

Porsche will unveil the Panamera S Hybrid, its second production hybrid model, later this year. L/100 km (35 mpg US) on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), making it the most fuel-efficient Porsche yet. The Porsche parallel full hybrid system also reduces consumption at high speeds via a “sailing” or coasting mode.

Porsche Motorsport announced the entry of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0 ( earlier post ) in the ModSpace American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón. The six-hour race on 17 September at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the eighth round of the 2011 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG is supplying a 7-speed manual transmission (7MT) for Porsche’s new 911 models, marking the first manual transmission with 7 speeds available for passenger cars. In a car with a manual transmission, Auto Stop/Start shuts down the engine if the gearbox is shifted into neutral and the clutch is released.
