SGH2 building largest green hydrogen production facility in California; gasification of waste into H2

Green Car Congress

The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. The facility will process 42,000 tons of recycled waste annually.

China researchers hydrotreat waste engine oil and scrap tire oil blend to produce diesel- and jet-range fuel

Green Car Congress

Researchers at Henan Polytechnic University in China have hydrotreated the oil derived from hydrothermal liquefaction of scrap tires (STO) with waste engine oil (WEO) using five different activated carbon-supported noble metal catalysts—Pd/C, Pt/C, Ru/C, Ir/C, and Rh/C—for the production of liquid fuels. —Lou et al.

LSBU researchers investigating metal hydride hydrogen storage for buses

Green Car Congress

On demand, the hydrogen is released from the hydride (endothermic reaction), utilizing the waste heat of the fuel cell. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles produce very low carbon emissions and no air pollution which makes them vital to cleaning our air and tackling climate change. New light-driven photo-electrochemical cell produces hydrogen from contaminated gas, including air

Green Car Congress

Researchers from the University of Antwerp and KU Leuven (University of Leuven), Belgium, have developed an all-gas-phase solid and stand-alone photo-electrochemical (PEC) cell that produces hydrogen gas from volatile organic contaminated air and light. The system works most efficiently with organic pollutants in inert carrier gas.
