Norwegian startup Blastr Green Steel is planning to establish a green steel plant with an integrated hydrogen production facility in Inkoo, Finland. Blastr has entered into a Letter of Intent with Nordic energy company Fortum that provides Blastr exclusive rights to utilize the existing industrial site located in Joddböle, Inkoo in Finland, 55 km west of Helsinki.
As it prepares to launch a global lineup of electric cars and trucks, Stellantis is also planning to build a very different kind of electric vehicle. At CES in Las Vegas, the automaker announced that it will build the Archer Midnight electric aircraft, as well as provide $150 million in funding to California-based Archer Aviation in 2023 and 2024.
Stellantis and Archer Aviation have agreed to expand their partnership by joining forces to manufacture Archer’s flagship electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, Midnight. Stellantis will work with Archer to stand up Archer’s recently announced manufacturing facility in Covington, Georgia at which the companies plan to begin manufacturing the Midnight aircraft in 2024.
In the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept revealed Thursday at CES, Stellantis’ Ram truck brand showed how it plans to deliver an electric truck in 2024. Put simply, it plans to carry on the competition that it’s waged against the Ford F-150 family, plus Chevy, GMC, and Toyota full-size trucks, translated into a new era of fully electric.
NFI Group subsidiary New Flyer Industries Canada ULC has received new firm orders for 16 battery-electric and fuel cell-electric transit buses from Winnipeg Transit. The contract also has options to be extended for up to four years to purchase up to 150 40-foot zero-emission buses (ZEBs). In total, NFI will add up to 166 buses (or 174 Equivalent Units, EUs) to its backlog from firm and option orders.

At CES 2023, ZF anniunced a new multi-domain capable edition of the ZF ProAI ( earlier post ) high-performance computer. One device can support domain-based ADAS, infotainment or chassis functions on separate boards. This includes system-on-chip configurations from multiple suppliers. It is even capable of hosting multiple operating systems in parallel, e.g., QNX for ADAS functions and Android Auto for infotainment.

Russia-based Norilsk Nickel (Nornickel)—the world’s largest nickel producer—is studying the potential for mining tailings to capture and store CO 2. The dompany is also working to develop a methodology to take stock of carbon units captured this way. In 2021, Nornickel extracted 41.2 mt of ore. Tesla is experimenting with an interesting Supercharger lot design at a new station in Kliplev, Denmark. The new Supercharger station in Kliplev features 24 V3 Superchargers capable of speeds up to 250 kW. This is nothing out of the ordinary for Tesla, the company with the most electric vehicle charging stalls and stations globally. Ram Trucks, the US truck arm of global automaker Stellantis , took the wraps off what it called the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept truck on Thursday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
