UK-based Expleo, a global engineering, technology and consultancy service provider, has developed a closed-loop fuel solution for global shipping that delivers a 92% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGe) in the model vessel. Expleo modeled its system-of-systems solution on the multi-tasking Bibby Wavemaster 1 , a vessel used to service offshore wind farms.

California-based Autonomy launched an EV subscription service with Tesla vehicles, but now it's expanding—massively. Autonomy on Tuesday announced a $1.2 billion fleet order for 45 EV models from 17 automakers. Totaling 23,000 vehicles, the order represents 1.2% of projected United States EV production through the end of 2023, the company.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) adopted a report establishing offshore wind goals and moving the state one step closer to development of the clean energy resource off California’s coast. Preliminary findings in the report set planning goals of 2,000-5,000 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind by 2030 and 25,000 MW (25 GW) by 2045, enough electricity to power 3.75 million initially and 25 million homes by mid-century.

LOTTE Chemical announced a joint venture with LOTTE Aluminium to build a manufacturing facility in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to produce 36,000 tons of cathode foil, a type of ultra-thin aluminum foil that is a core material used in EV batteries. Cathode foil is one of the four major components of lithium-ion batteries. It supports the cathode active material that determines the capacity and voltage of the secondary battery, and at the same time serves as a passage for electrons.

IKEA is collaborating with Volkswagen’s Electrify America in a move that will quadruple the number of electric vehicle chargers across its United States locations. The partnership will accommodate both passenger and commercial fleets as Electrify Commercial is also a part of the deal. Archer Aviation has received a $10-million pre-delivery payment from United Airlines for 100 of the company’s initial production eVTOL aircraft. United is making the deposit on 100 of Archer’s production aircraft which it agreed to purchase in 2021.
