Universal Hydrogen has flown a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. In this first test flight, one of the airplane’s turbine engines was replaced with Universal Hydrogen’s fuel cell-electric, megawatt-class powertrain. The other remained a conventional engine for safety of flight.

In the harbor, a transmission cable will be connected to the electric grid onshore. An optional solution is to place a hydrogen or ammonia production plant next to the floating nuclear power plant utilizing the CO 2 -free fission energy to produce hydrogen and ammonia. This provides significant safety benefits.

Associated British Ports (ABP) is the first UK port operator to trial a hydrogen-fueled tractor in its container terminal at the Port of Immingham. The Terberg hydrogen terminal tractor is being tested at the UK’s largest port by volume of tonnage, alongside a mobile hydrogen filling station provided by Air Products.
