These coatings were applied using roll-to-roll techniques to pre-coat low cost stainless steel foils, and post-coat after part fabrication.

The platform technology is also being commercialized for conversion of waste brines to chemicals and desalinated water. Mangrove also says that its technology can reduce lithium hydroxide production costs from lithium brines by as much as 45%. Lithium processing is presently concentrated in a small number of regions in the world.

The team presented a pair of papers on their work at the Spring meeting of the American Chemical Society this week in New Orleans. There’s a long way to go before they are commercialized, but we are reporting a fundamental advance in that direction. These new catalysts are much better than any previously in existence.

Steam is adopted as a sweep gas, presenting efficient H 2 recovery (>91%) while replacing conventionally utilized noble carrier gases that require additional gas separation processes. The research team at KIST developed a low-cost membrane material and a catalyst for decomposition of ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen.
