Cemvita demonstrates “gold hydrogen” production in situ, sets up subsidiary

Green Car Congress

Cemvita defines Gold Hydrogen as the biological production of hydrogen in the subsurface through the consumption of trapped or abandoned resources. The hydrogen production in this trial exceeded our expectations. Green hydrogen production, however, is energy intensive and expensive. kg in late July 2022.

Lux Research projects methanol-to-gasoline most competitive route for liquid fuels from natural gas or waste

Green Car Congress

The price disparity between crude oil and other resources, coupled with the emergence of cheap and abundant shale gas, especially in the United States, is opening up opportunities to produce cheaper gasoline, according to a new report from Lux Research. GTL (gas-to-liquids) can make ethanol more cheaply, but offers limited product value.

A*STAR team combines fungal culture and acid hydrolyses for cost-effective production of fermentable sugars from palm oil waste

Green Car Congress

Researchers from A*STAR in Singapore have developed a fungal culture for use in a cheap and efficient method to transform waste oil palm material into biofuels and environmentally friendly plastics. The palm oil waste contains cellulose and hemicellulose that can be broken down into sugars for use in fuel and plastic production.

HeatReCar project demonstrates technical feasibility of thermoelectric generator for waste heat recovery; economic case more difficult

Green Car Congress

A recently completed European project coordinated by Centro Ricerche Fiat (CRF) demonstrated the technical feasibility of a Bi 2 Te 3 -based thermoelectric generator (TEG) for waste heat recovery for application to a diesel light-duty truck (LDT). This requires cheap, lightweight thermoelectric material standing temperatures up to 650 ?C.
