In a new piece of research, BloombergNEF (BNEF) finds that the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH 2 ) made from renewable electricity is set to fall faster than it previously estimated. These countries accounted for one-third of global GDP in 2019. Such low renewable hydrogen costs could completely rewrite the energy map.

The demand for domestically produced and sustainably sourced battery metals has grown at a near insatiable rate over recent years, as the domestic manufacturing capacity of lithium-ion batteries has grown exponentially from less than 50 GWh/year to now more than 700 GWh/year of operational and announced capacity.

SPARKZ, a battery startup with exclusive licenses from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to produce domestic cobalt-free lithium batteries, will begin manufacturing its zero-cobalt battery in Taylor County, West Virginia, eventually employing 350 workers. SPARKZ was founded in late 2019 and has been in innovation mode.
