Latest GHG Inventory shows California remains below 2020 emissions target; much steeper rate of GHG reductions required

California’s latest greenhouse gas data shows that while the state continues to stay below its 2020 target for emissions, there is much more work to do to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. California statewide GHG emissions dropped below the 2020 GHG Limit in 2016 and have remained below the 2020 GHG Limit since then.

California clean fuels rule reports 100% compliance in 2017

The 2017 Compliance Report for the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) shows 100% compliance with the regulation. It was originally developed to support a return to 1990 levels of climate-changing gases by 2020, as required by AB 32, the 2006 landmark climate bill. Electricity displaced about 75 million gallons of petroleum.

EPA launches Cleaner Trucks Initiative to update NOx standards for heavy-duty trucks

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to further decrease NO x emissions from on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines. From 2007 to 2017, US NO x emissions dropped by more than 40%. EPA intends to publish a proposed rule in early 2020.

EPA proposes renewable fuel volume obligations for 2020
