SMMT Cancels British International Motor Show in 2010

Following a what it called a “ thorough consultation ” with the UK motor industry, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has decided to cancel the 2010 British International Motor Show. Founded in 1902, SMMT organized the first British International Motor Show at London’s Crystal Palace in 1903.

Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE Chooses Michigan for 2010 Competition Events, Provides Competition Timeline

Fifty-one cars from 41 teams survived the design judging phase and will start on-track performance events in the spring of 2010, with the support of a new partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) announced at the North American International Auto Show last week.

International study finds heat stress to Caribbean corals in 2005 worst on record, coral reefs suffered record losses

Collaborators from 22 countries report that more than 80% of surveyed corals bleached and more than 40% of the total surveyed died, making this the most severe bleaching event ever recorded in the basin. The study appears in PLoS ONE , an international, peer-reviewed, open-access, online publication. PLoS ONE 5(11): e13969.
