Capital Metro in Austin, Texas has approved a plan to purchase 26 40-foot Proterra ZX5 Max electric transit buses, featuring a total of more than 17 megawatt hours of battery storage capacity. The plan approved by Capital Metro also contains options for the agency to acquire an additional 126 40-foot electric transit buses and chargers over five years.

Ford on Monday announced its largest single manufacturing investment ever—$11.4 billion, which will include the creation of nearly 11,000 new jobs at two mammoth manufacturing complexes in Tennessee and Kentucky. Wrightbus unveiled the new new single-deck GB Kite Hydroliner fuel-cell-powered bus and single-deck GB Kite Electroliner battery-powered bus last week at the Millbrook Proving Ground. The GB Kite Hydroliner is powered by a 70 kW or 100 kW Ballard FC Move fuel cell, paired with a 30 kWh or 45 kWh battery system. The new buses were developed following the award of funding from the Advanced Propulsion Centre’s Advanced Route to Market Demonstrator (ARMD) Competition.

The plant that made something very American and very much a gas-guzzler is now making electric vans—albeit ones essentially from China. Electric Last Mile Solutions (ELMS) on Wednesday announced shipment of its first electric delivery vans to customers. Those vans rolled out of the same Mishawaka, Indiana, factory that used to build Hummers.

MAHLE Powertrain and Bramble Energy have agreed to continue their collaboration to develop Bramble’s Printed Circuit Board Fuel Cell (PCBFC) hydrogen fuel cell technology. ( Earlier post.) Tesla is leading an electric offensive in Norway as new data from the Opplysningsrådet for Veitrafikken (The Road Traffic Information Council of Norway, or OFV) reveals that 77.5% of new car sales for September consisted of electric vehicles. It's a fairly quick turnaround considering that GM only announced the EV600, as well as plans to build it in Ontario, Canada, in January. Lucid Group has begun production of the Lucid Air electric luxury sedan at Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1). Lucid expects reservation holders of Lucid Air Dream Edition models will begin receiving their vehicles in late October, with customer deliveries ramping up thereafter.
