Study suggests China urban passenger transport emissions could peak in 2030

A team of researchers in China suggest that, in the context of promoting the use of clean fuel vehicles and increasing vehicle fuel efficiency, CO 2 emissions of China’s urban passenger transport sector could reach a peak of 225 MtCO 2 in 2030. A paper on their study appears in the journal Energy Policy.

EEA: small increase in EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions in 2017, with transport emissions up for the fourth consecutive year

Total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union (EU) increased by 0.7% Less coal was used to produce heat and electricity but this was offset by higher industrial and transport emissions, the latter increasing for the fourth consecutive year. The EEA will publish preliminary estimates of 2018 emissions in the autumn.

(KOBELCO) has successfully demonstrated technology that can reduce CO 2 emissions from blast furnace operations by approximately 20% by combining the Midrex’ HBI technologies and the blast furnace operations of Kobe Steel. Coke is carbon fuel made from coal. RAR is thus the quantity of carbon fuel used in blast furnace ironmaking.

Consortium moves ahead with HESC pilot for conversion of Australian coal to LH2 for transport to Japan

The Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain ( HESC ) project will convert brown coal from the AGL Loy Yang mine into hydrogen at an adjacent site and then transport the gas by road in high pressure tube trailers to a liquefaction terminal at the Port of Hastings. Equinor and RWE to develop hydrogen-fired power plants in Germany, Norway-to-Germany hydrogen pipeline

The partners aim to replace coal-fired power plants with hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants in Germany, and to build production of low carbon and renewable hydrogen in Norway that will be exported through pipeline to Germany. Germany has an ambition to phase out all coal fired power plants by 2030.
