A new Conference Board of Canada report finds that Canada is unlikely to achieve an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2050. Canada is making progress reducing its GHG emissions and will continue to do so for the next decade. The challenge is that we are not moving fast enough.

Monsanto Company and BASF scientists have discovered a naturally-occurring gene that can help corn plants combat drought conditions and confer yield stability during periods of inadequate water supplies. Monsanto and BASF noted that the drought-tolerant corn product is targeted for as early as 2012 pending appropriate regulatory approvals.
