This year's Shanghai auto show began last week, with media days on April 18-19, professional visitor days on April 20-21, and general public access on April 22 - 27.
Unlike those you may have grown accustomed to seeing, many of these stations don’t just charge electric cars—they can also send power from vehicle batteries to the local utility grid for use by homes and businesses. Debates over the feasibility and value of such vehicle-to-grid technology go back decades. This is good for the grid.
Auto OEMs adopt different charging strategies by limiting peak power; if the initial charge rate is limited, the charging power delivered can remain constant till 80% SoC. Charging without a grid connection - the launch of Infrastructure-as-a-service. Battery degradation also becomes apparent when charging quickly above 80% SoC.
Geely Holding has provided two Geely Auto Emgrand methanol sedans ( earlier post ) and the world’s first M100 heavy truck to Danish partners as part of the long-term trial. The uses of green methanol for commercial shipping have already been pioneered by Danish shipping giant Maersk.
The Terra 23 is designed for areas where EV drivers plan to stay 30-60 minutes, such as retail locations, commercial office environments and EV auto dealerships. Its 20 kW design allows for quick and easy installation on widely available 3 x 32A low-cost grid connections.
Li Auto is aiming to build about 300 super-fast charging stations this year, and NIO also plans to add 10,000 new charging piles this year, according to local media. HK (Image credit: Li Auto) Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) is starting to build out its charging infrastructure as its first all-electric model is set to be launched this year.
Hyundai unveiled the redesigned 2018 Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models at the Chicago Auto Show. Individuals that have different electric rates at off-peak times may want to schedule the charge to reduce cost as well as reduce peak demand on the electricity grid. Users can do that with the new app based on time and date.
As the number of electric vehicles on the world’s roads explodes, electric utilities are grappling with increasing demand while simultaneously having to stabilize their grids where more intermittent renewable-energy sources like wind and solar are coming online. That’s the promise of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
As the costs of climate change and the price of oil both become too high to bear, auto manufacturers will shift more of their vehicle fleets to electric. As it stands, the power grid is already run-down and outdated , built for the electric loads of a century ago, not for modern life. What Is OpenADR?
A control electrode, or grid, is situated close to the filament and is held at a negative potential in respect to it. As the voltage potential between the filament and grid is reduced, electrons are allowed to escape. These are accelerated from the filament to the anode by applying a high negative voltage to the filament.
