Study finds global carbon emissions reached 10 billion tonnes in 2010

Green Car Congress

Global carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels have increased by 49% in the last two decades, according to the latest figures from the Global Carbon Project. Total emissions—including fossil fuel combustion, cement production, deforestation and other land use emissions—reached 10 billion tonnes of carbon (36.7

Audi Hungaria starts operation of Europe’s biggest solar roof installation

Green Car Congress

Audi Hungaria is thus the second of five Audi sites (after Audi Brussels) to achieve a neutral carbon balance, according to the company. We have a clear aim: that all Audi sites will have carbon-neutral operation by 2025. The remaining heat is generated through natural gas, with carbon neutrality assured thanks to bio-gas certificates.

Researchers demonstrate electrochemical synthesis of ammonia from air and water under mild conditions

Green Car Congress

Andrews have demonstrated that ammonia can be synthesized directly from air (instead of N 2 ) and H 2 O (instead of H 2 ) under a mild condition (room temperature, one atmosphere) with supplied electricity which can be obtained from renewable resources such as solar, wind or marine. Globally 131 million tons of ammonia were produced in 2010.

Ford targeting 30% reduction in water used per vehicle by 2015

Green Car Congress

Ford plans to cut the amount of water used to make each vehicle 30% globally by 2015, compared with the amount of water used per vehicle in 2009. If Ford meets the 30% goal, the amount of water used to make a vehicle will have dropped from 9.5 Between 2000 and 2010, Ford reduced its global water use by 62%, or 10.5

Western Lithium significantly upgrades its Kings Valley Lithium resource in Nevada

Green Car Congress

Western Lithium USA Corporation has announced that its 2010 and 2011 drill program has resulted in a significant increase to the project’s resource size. The resource for Stage I is now defined by approximately 200 drill holes that have all intersected lithium bearing clays. The resource estimate was calculated by Timothy J.
