Volvo Cars, in cooperation with Starbucks Corporation, announced the first Starbucks stores where new electric vehicle (EV) chargers, powered by ChargePoint, will be available to customers and members of the public. ChargePoint’s DC fast chargers can bring the Volvo C40 Recharge, for example, from a 20% to a 90% charge in about 40 minutes.

Volvo LIGHTS partners, led by CALSTART and joined by ChargePoint and other industry organizations, filed a motion in July that sought to clarify the CPUC’s position. The station, scheduled to open in Q4 2021, will enable fleet operators to recharge as needed while out on routes.

Ford and Volvo have partnered with Redwood Materials for pathways for end-of-life electric vehicle batteries. Ford and Volvo are the first two automakers to join the program. Volvo’s XC40 Recharge EV is the beginning of the company’s trek to be climate neutral by 2040 and fully-electric by 2030.
