London transport operator Go-Ahead adds two Irizar electric i2e buses to fleet after successful operating results

Based on the success of two Irizar 100% i2e electric buses that have been operating in London since June 2015, London’s largest transport operator, Go-Ahead, is incorporating the buses into its fleet and has signed an agreement with Irizar that includes service and maintenance. The second was delivered in July 2015.

The move follows confirmation by Go-Ahead London that it will introduce 51 pure electric buses on routes 507 and 521, which operate between Waterloo and Victoria. Go-Ahead London said it expects to introduce all 51 electric buses into service by 27 August 2016, signaling the introduction of London’s first, large-scale pure electric bus fleet.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses entering service in London; planned fleet of 8

The first of a planned fleet of eight hydrogen fuel cell buses in London will start operating on 18 December. The vehicles were specifically designed for Transport for London (TfL) using technology developed by ISE, Wrightbus and Ballard. The buses will form the only hydrogen bus fleet in the UK and the largest currently in Europe.

Transport for London (TfL) has issued a £67-million (US$100-million), four-year international tender for up to 1,300 electric or ultra-low carbon vehicles.
