SGH2 building largest green hydrogen production facility in California; gasification of waste into H2

Green Car Congress

The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. The facility will process 42,000 tons of recycled waste annually.

Heating Buildings With Solar Energy Stored in Sand

Cars That Think

In a region known for long, dark winter nights, Polar Night Energy is building a system in the city of Tampere that can heat buildings with stored solar energy — all day, all night, and all winter long. In this way, sand enables solar power to keep people warm, even during the darkest and coldest Finnish nights.

Lessons from a year with solar power

EV Info

It was one year ago that we decided to add solar panels to our roof. In March 2020 we installed 9 solar panels an inverter and 2 battery packs. Panels: JA Solar black. The solar panels attach to the roof and convert solar light into electrical energy. Your power comes from the grid as 240 Volts AC.

Thermal Energy Storage Is No Longer Just Hot Air

Cars That Think

As countries transition away from fossil fuels to green sources of energy like wind and solar, there will be natural lulls in energy production due to weather conditions. Energy consumption also tends to peak during early evening hours , which is inconveniently right when solar energy output decreases.

California Energy Commission awards $750K to Electricore to study standardization of plug-in vehicle batteries

Green Car Congress

Standardizing PEV batteries could reduce the purchase and ownership costs of PEVS, as well as addressing additional consumer issues such as maintenance and safety. The system will integrate solar photovoltaic technology to capture solar energy to compress air into above-ground tanks packaged in standard shipping containers.

SoCalGas & UC Irvine show power-to-gas technology able to boost use of intermittent renewable energy significantly

Green Car Congress

Power-to-gas technology takes excess renewable electricity which would otherwise go to waste and converts it to hydrogen, which can then be blended with natural gas and utilized in everything from home appliances to power plants. The increased solar deployment raised the fraction of renewable power used on campus from 3.5%
