IPG to demo Flameless Ceramic Turbine for clean, off-grid power in EV charging

Green Car Congress

IPG’s project will demonstrate the role of Flameless Ceramic Turbine technology in bringing EV charging to high-use and remote locations through clean, cheap, grid-independent power generation. But, in many high-use areas and remote locations, upgrading grid connections to meet future charging demand is not practical or commercially viable.

Siemens Energy, FFI and GeoPura developing prototype ammonia cracker to produce hydrogen

Green Car Congress

We have just 13 years to deliver a net-zero electricity grid for the UK. The cracker and MMT, if successful, will allow the green hydrogen to be recovered and delivered as high-purity hydrogen at the point of use, with a focus on mobility and off-grid power applications. CMU study finds that coal retirement is needed for EVs to reduce air pollution

Green Car Congress

In the study’s future 2018 grid scenarios that account for predicted coal plant retirements, PEVs would produce air emissions damages comparable to or slightly lower than HEVs. Life cycle emissions by pollutant and life cycle stage for each vehicle type in the recent (a) and future (b) PJM grid. Source: Weis et al. Weis et al.

California Air Resources Board posts revised draft of strategy to reduce “Super Pollutants”

Green Car Congress

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has posted a revised draft of California’s proposed Short-Lived Climate Pollutant (SLCP) Strategy. SLCPs are a category of pollutants which remain in the atmosphere for a relatively brief period, but have global warming potentials that are much higher than those of CO 2.
