Stellantis will invest a total of $155 million in three Kokomo, Indiana, plants to produce new electric drive modules (EDM) that will help power future electric vehicles assembled in North America and to support the goal of 50% battery-electric sales in the US by 2030. With more than 25 battery-electric vehicle (BEV) launches planned in the US between now and 2030, the Kokomo-built EDM will be integrated into vehicles designed on the STLA Large and STLA Frame platforms.

Rivian on Tuesday confirmed that it will be delivering Max Pack versions of its R1S electric SUV, in Dual Motor form, starting this fall. According to Rivian, the R1S Max Pack will accelerate to 60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds and offer three rows of seating. With the announcement, part of a quarterly financial update for shareholders released.

Tesla and its affiliates have signed a $2.9-billion order for high-nickel cathode materials with South Korea’s L&F Company, according to an L&F regulatory filing. The contract runs for two years, from 1 Jan 2024 through 31 December 2025. The value of the deal is calculated on the basis of L&F’s recent cathode sales price, and may change depending upon fluctuations in lithium pricing.

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) ( earlier post ) announced results of its third-party Qualified Person (QP)-audited Inferred Resource Report that details the analysis of its lithium deposit at its Tonopah Flats Lithium Project in Nevada. The inferred resources report concludes that Tonopah Flats may hold an estimated 15.8 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) approved a staff analysis recommending the state pursue extending operation of Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) through 2030 to ensure electricity reliability.
