HyMethShip seeks to fuel ship engines with hydrogen from methanol

Green Car Congress

The EU-funded HyMethShip project developed a system that innovatively combined a membrane reactor, a CO 2 capture system, a storage system for CO 2 and methanol as well as a hydrogen-fueled combustion engine to power ships. The bottom part shows how hydrogen for the engine is obtained from methanol in the reactor (blue arrow).

Cornell team suggests engineered bacteria could address current limitations of energy storage technologies

Green Car Congress

In an open-access paper published in the Journal of Biological Engineering , the team compiles performance data on biological and non-biological component choices for rewired carbon fixation systems and identifies research and engineering challenges. At the same time, having many options also creates too many engineering choices.

Siemens Energy, FFI and GeoPura developing prototype ammonia cracker to produce hydrogen

Green Car Congress

It selectively filters the hydrogen while blocking other gases, allowing it to be used as a fuel and converted as needed, at the time of re-fueling. It can be used for storing large amounts of hydrogen in a liquid form that builds on existing global supply chain infrastructure. million (US$1.8-million)
